Valve oil seal structure and function


Valve valve oil seal (VALVESTEMSEAL) is a kind of oil seal. It is generally vulcanized by exoskeleton and fluororubber. The radial part is equipped with self-tightening spring or steel wire for sealing the engine valve guide.

It can prevent oil from entering the intake and exhaust pipes, causing oil loss, preventing the mixture of gasoline and air and exhaust gas leakage, and preventing engine oil from entering the combustion engine.

The valve oil seal is one of the important parts of the engine valve group, which is in contact with gasoline and oil at high temperatures. Therefore, it is necessary to use a material excellent in heat resistance and oil resistance, which is generally made of fluororubber. Valve oil seal structure

Valve oil seal installation and replacement

1. Removal steps of the valve stem oil seal:

Remove the camshaft and hydraulic tappet and store them face down. When operating, be aware that the tappets are not interchangeable. Use the spark plug wrench 3122B to remove the spark plug, adjust the piston of the corresponding cylinder to the top dead center, and screw the pressure hose VW653/3 into the threaded hole of the spark plug.

The spring compression tool 3362 is bolted to the cylinder head. Adjust the relevant valve to the correct position and connect the pressure hose to the air compressor (air pressure at least 600KPA). Use a threaded mandrel and a thrust member to press down on the valve spring and remove the spring.

The valve lock block can be removed by tapping the valve spring seat. Use the tool 3364 to pull out the valve stem oil seal.

2. Installation of valve stem oil seal:

Put the plastic on the valve stem to prevent damage to the new valve stem seal. Apply a layer of oil to the oil seal lip. The oil is packaged onto the tool 3365 and then slowly pushed onto the valve guide. Special reminder: Before installing the inlet and exhaust valves, apply a layer of oil to the valve stem.
