Rubber seal performance, properties and use

Rubber seal performance, properties and use. Rubber, similar to plastics and fibers, is called the three major synthetic materials and is the only polymer material with high flexibility and excellent elasticity. The biggest characteristic of rubber is firstly that the modulus of elasticity is very small and the elongation is high. Secondly, it has quite good gas permeability resistance and resistance to various chemical media and electrical insulation properties. Some special synthetic rubbers have good oil resistance and temperature resistance, and can resist swelling of fatty oils, lubricating oils, hydraulic oils, fuel oils and solvent oils; cold resistance can be as low as -60 ° C to -80 ° C, heat resistance can be Up to +180 ° C to +350 ° C. The rubber is also resistant to various flexing and bending deformations because the hysteresis loss is small. The third characteristic of rubber is that it can be used in combination with a plurality of materials, blended, and composited, thereby being modified to obtain good overall properties.

These basic properties of rubber are that it has become an excellent material for shock absorption, sealing, flexing, abrasion, corrosion, insulation and bonding in the industry.

First, the classification of rubber

1. According to the source and method of raw materials, rubber can be divided into two categories: natural rubber and synthetic rubber. Natural rubber consumption accounts for 1/3, and synthetic rubber consumption accounts for 2/3.

2, according to the appearance of rubber, rubber can be divided into solid rubber (also known as dry rubber), milky rubber (referred to as latex), liquid rubber and powder rubber four categories.

3, according to the performance and use of rubber, in addition to natural rubber, synthetic rubber can be divided into general synthetic rubber, semi-generic synthetic rubber, special synthetic rubber and special synthetic rubber.

4. According to the physical form of rubber, rubber can be divided into hard rubber and soft rubber, raw rubber and rubber compound. Depending on the type of rubber and the type of cross-linking, rubber can be classified as follows in industrial use. One type is classified into ordinary rubber, heat-resistant rubber, oil-resistant rubber, weather-resistant rubber, and special chemical medium rubber according to the functions of heat resistance and oil resistance.
